The Full Story
Welcome to Double Diamond Stud! Our aim is to produce strong, healthy German Shepherds suitable for work or pets. We are dedicated to breeding quality and as such we have done the homework and only breed from top quality dogs, ensuring every single one is DNA tested.
We started breeding dogs back in 2017, though we weren't in the shepherds at that time. We bred a variety of small dog breeds, again being very selective of our breeding dogs to ensure we were breeding the healthiest puppies we could. You will still see our original stud male - Scamp - going strong at 13 years of age. Sadly the rest of our original breeding line are no longer with us.
COVID-19 was a huge hit to us and saw us have to downsize and get out of breeding for a time. But the passion and love for dogs still remained. I have always been passionate about the German Shepherd breed, so it was a dream come true when I got my first stud boy Kodiak as a puppy in 2023. After thorough DNA testing we decided to jump back in, purchasing our two girls Stormy (at 2 years) and Zuri (at 8 weeks), and finally our second stud boy Zulu at 18 months. All have been through the same thorough screening as Kodiak to ensure they are nothing but the best examples of the breed.
Of course, it's not just about quality dogs, but about happy dogs as well! All of our dogs are pets first, parents later. They all run happily together with our 2 other dogs, 3 cats, 5 beefies and 10 horses on our little 5 acre block. They come with us on holidays and camping trips and just love to be a part of the action.
In addition to DNA testing, all of our dogs are raised on premium dog food Black Hawk and are in an environment that gives them the scope they need to live their best lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is DNA testing?
DNA testing looks at what each dog will pass on to puppies on the genetic level. We test for all issues and diseases common to the breed and basic health checking. All of our dogs are DNA tested and safe to breed from, however we have taken extra care to carefully match our breeding pairs to ensure the best possible outcome for our puppies. We will not breed to or from a dog that will pass on any issues/diseases nor a dog who has not been DNA tested.
Are your Dogs Hip Scored?
Under direction from our vet, our dogs are only now reaching the ideal age to hip score and waitlists to have hip scoring done are incredibly long so unless stated otherwise in their profile our dogs are not currently hip scored. However DNA results are more reliable than hip scores when it comes to whether or not our dogs will pass on hip or elbow dysplasia. A dog may receive a poor hip score due to an injury or other environmental factor in their main growing years but not pass that on to puppies genetically. By the same token, a dog with a good hip score can pass on hip dysplasia if it carries a genetic fault or tendency towards it on the genetic level.
All of our dogs are genetically clear of any predispositions to hip and elbow dysplasia.
Are your Dogs DogsNZ registered?
No. Neither myself or my dogs are DogsNZ registered as it is a closed network system meaning both parents of each dog must already be registered in order to register my dogs. Unfortunately, while all of my dogs come from good, registered bloodlines, due to having the working line German Shepherd bloodlines, they all have either one or both parents unregistered, meaning I cannot register my dogs.
Can I see/have a copy of the parents DNA results?
Absolutely. We are happy to supply a copy of any DNA results upon request.
How does your Waitlist work?
We operate a 2-tier system for our waitlist.
Tier 1 gives you the option to place a deposit of $500 to secure your position in the waitlist and will come off the purchase price of your puppy. This deposit is non-refundable unless we are physically unable to supply a puppy. The deposit is Transferable between puppies/litters.
Tier 2 enables you to join our waitlist without placing a deposit first but will mean that those on Tier 1 will be able to select their puppies before you. In some cases, Tier 2 may mean you have to wait for a future litter depending on your position in the waitlist.
